Why Just Locals Exists
Just Locals started with one simple problem.
Every time I needed a local business, I’d end up searching old Facebook posts full of great recommendations. The businesses were there. Finding them again wasn’t.
So I built a place where independent businesses can list themselves for free, while also preserving the businesses communities genuinely recommend.
Just Locals isn’t trying to replace Facebook. It’s designed to organise the knowledge already being shared by local communities and make it easier to search later.
Started in Wide Bay, Just Locals is now growing community by community across Queensland.
What makes Just Locals different?
- Independent businesses only. We exist to help local operators get discovered.
- Community recommendations. Businesses repeatedly recommended by locals are recognised on a dedicated Community Recommended page.
- No paid rankings. Nobody can buy their way to the top.
- Direct contact. When you contact a business, you’re speaking directly with them.
- Free listings. Independent businesses can list themselves and keep their information up to date.
Our Standards
- Businesses must operate locally.
- Businesses must be independently owned.
- Businesses must provide genuine services.
- Businesses must provide direct contact details.
Please note: Businesses that become franchises, close down, or provide misleading information may be removed to preserve the integrity of the platform.
